New to Raw? Start Here 🐾

Thinking about switching your dog to raw but not sure where to start, or which flavours they’ll actually love? Our New to Raw Starter Box takes the guesswork out. You get five classic flavours to try, a step-by-step transition guide and a few extras to make the switch easy, all in one box.

📦 What’s in the Box?
As a guide, an average-sized dog like a Labrador eats around one 500g tub a day. Smaller dogs eat less, so their box goes further. Choose the size that suits your dog:

🐶 Small Dog Box (5kg)

  • 2 x each of Beef, Chicken & Beef, Chicken, Duck and Meaty Mince (10 x 500g tubs)
  • Transition guide
  • Lick mat
  • Treats: a bag of treats or a tub of sprats
Around 10 days of food for a Labrador-sized dog, and even longer for smaller pups

🐕 Medium Dog Box (10kg)

  • 4 x each of Beef, Chicken & Beef, Chicken, Duck and Meaty Mince (20 x 500g tubs)
  • Transition guide
  • Slow feeder bowl in pink or blue (pick your colour when you choose your box)
  • Treats: a bag of treats or a tub of sprats
Around 20 days of food for a Labrador-sized dog

🐕🦺 Large Dog Box (15kg)

  • 6 x each of Beef, Chicken & Beef, Chicken, Duck and Meaty Mince (30 x 500g tubs)
  • Transition guide
  • Slow feeder bowl in pink or blue (pick your colour when you choose your box)
  • Treats: a bag of treats or a tub of sprats
Around 30 days of food for a Labrador-sized dog

✅ Why Start With This Box?
🗺️ A guide for the switch: our transition guide walks you through moving your dog onto raw step by step, at a pace that suits them.
🍖 Five flavours to explore: got a fussy eater? Try beef, chicken, duck and more, and find their favourites before you commit.
🥣 Mealtime extras: a slow feeder bowl for dogs who wolf their dinner, or a lick mat for smaller pups.
🦴 A little reward: treats or sprats to say well done for trying something new.
❄️ Freezer-friendly tubs: resealable and easy to stack. Portion out what you need and pop the rest back in.

🥩 What’s in Our Minces?
At least 80% meat, made with 100% natural ingredients. There are no fillers and no unnecessary additives. The texture is chunky and meaty, not your average smooth mince, so there’s something proper for them to get stuck into.

❤️ Made With Care in Merseyside
Mersey Raw started with one dog: Pluto, our founder Ben’s dog. He still has his breakfast straight off the production line every morning, so he’s our chief taste tester. Every tub is made with care at our dedicated facility in Merseyside.

❄️ Storage & Handling
Your box arrives frozen, ready to go straight into the freezer.

  • Keep frozen until needed
  • Defrost in the fridge
  • Once defrosted, keep refrigerated and follow the packaging instructions
  • Wash hands, bowls and surfaces after handling raw food

🚚 Delivery

How does delivery work?

Mersey Raw is proud to offer next day frozen delivery to most of the UK, 7 days a week.

Orders made before 1pm will be shipped the same day. Any orders placed after 1pm will be shipped the following day. Our delivery costs £6.95 (free on orders over £65).

As our products are classed as perishable goods, they are sent on a next day delivery service. If you are not at home to receive your order, our couriers will leave it in the safest place possible and if you have not already notified the courier where to leave it.

Mersey Raw accepts no responsibility for orders that have been diverted or left in a safe place, therefore please ensure someone is available to receive your order.

Once your order leaves our warehouse, you will receive tracking information from the courier to the email address or mobile number you have entered on your order. We specifically request that someone be home to take in the parcel, as Mersey Raw is not liable for any parcels that are redirected, or requested to be left in a safe place.

Please note: do not change the delivery date of your parcel - this could result in your parcel being disposed of as it contains frozen goods. Mersey Raw will not replace orders that have been disposed of for this reason.

Our frozen next day delivery costs £6.95 and is free for orders over £65. Any order received before 1pm will be delivered the next day (7 days a week). Orders placed after 1pm will arrive 2 days later.

How much should I give my dog?

We recommend feeding your dog approximately 2-3% of its ideal body weight in raw food per day.

More active dogs should be fed approximately 3-4% of their ideal body weight in raw food per day and less active dogs approximately 1-2% of their ideal body weight.

For puppies, feed them approximately 5-8% of their ideal body weight in raw food per day.

Spread their daily amount into 1-2 servings per day.

As a rough guide, for adult dogs:

Extra small dogs 1kg - 5kg (Dachshund, Pomeranian, Toy Poodle): 30g - 150g per day.

Small dogs 5kg - 10kg (Yorkshire Terrier, French Bulldog, Miniature Schnauzer): 150g - 300g per day.

Medium-sized dogs 10kg - 25kg (Bearded Collie, Cocker Spaniel, Beagle) 150g - 750g per day.

Large dogs 25kg - 45kg (German Shepherd, Labrador, Dalmation) 750g - 1.35kg per day.

Extra large dogs 45kg+ (Irish Wolfhound, Great Dane, Bernese Mountain Dog) over 1.35kg per day.

How to switch to raw dog food?

Switching to raw dog food is easy and straight-forward for almost all dogs.

The easiest way to switch, and what works for 99% of dogs, is to immediately switch from their old food to their new raw dog food.

If your dog is a little reluctant to try new things and perhaps prone to an occasionally upset tummy, one thing that will help them transition to raw dog food is to mix in some warm (not hot) water or add some bone broth.

Is it suitable for puppies?

Yes, Mersey Raw dog food is suitable for dogs of all ages, including puppies.

If your puppy is under 8 weeks old, we recommend serving them our duck, chicken, venison or turkey minces, as they are a touch finer.

Should I add any supplements?

A mixed raw diet has everything that your dog needs to stay fit and healthy.

If you would like to supplement your dog's diet, we recommend supplementing with oily fish, whole raw eggs (including shell), and bone broth.

Once thawed, how long does it last?

Once thawed, our raw dog food is perfectly fine to be used for 4 days, when you keep it sealed in the fridge.

Once thawed, can it be re-frozen?

Yes it can, but you can only re-freeze our raw dog food once and only if it’s remained cool throughout the time it has been thawed.

In the freezer, how long will it last?

Mersey Raw frozen dog food can last up to 12 months in your freezer.
